DCUO March Update

While we are waiting for the March update known as Update 2, Game Director Chris Cao and Art Director Mark Anderson decided to share some information with fans about upcoming features. A new raid, a new character looming in Gotham City, and much more were discussed in this Live Chat. For those who can’t or don’t have time to watch the video Bt made compilation of information.

New Content for March:

  • Solo Challenge featuring Two-Face and Penguin
  • Duo featuring Green Lantern and Sinestro (total rework of story mode instance and green lantern skills and graphics, featuring Arkillo and Kilowogg as bosses)
  • Batcave III raid (featuring fight against Robo-Batman and Brainiac, it was mentioned T2 will be required)
  • St Patrick’s day event featuring Mr Mxyzptlk
  • Two-Face to be added in Legends: PvP

Refinements and Fixes:

  • Proximity voice chat (Already in game)
  • A redone and revamped social menu accessible via quickmenu instead of PDA
  • Adjustments to queue system, including kicking from groups, requeueing for new alerts with the same team, reinviting after drops, dropping group from queue so no randoms join, rejoining to fill it up again, etc
  • Further focus on fixing exploits and cheats
  • DCUO now downloadable via PSN

What they liked/disliked about February update:

  • Liked Solo Challenge featuring Catwoman
  • Liked Duo featuring Bane
  • Liked Batcave II raid
  • Felt “meh” about Valentine’s day event, realize people didn’t like the “cutesy” nature will be rectifying that for this month
  • No mention of Diamond Heist

DCUO Digital Download Coming Soon

Ryan Peters, SOE PR Manager announced that nearly two months after the launch of DC Universe Online , the game is coming to the PlayStation Store! The release date will be announced soon so keep an eye out for the official news.

DC Universe Online will be available for download at the Playstation Store for $59.99 USD. The game includes 30-days of free gameplay, with a monthly game play fee of $14.99 thereafter. We also have bundled packs that give you more game play for less, a six-month subscription package is available for $77.99 USD with a 12-month subscription selling for $134.99 USD.

Gamers in Real Life (G.I.R.L.) SOE’s Scholarship Program

The Gamers in Real Life (G.I.R.L.) scholarship was created by Sony Online Entertainment LLC in 2008, to encourage students toward career paths in the creative and applied arts, with the ultimate goal of developing video games that are more interesting for women to play. If you want to apply to the competition, review the (G.I.R.L.) Game Design Competition 2011 Official Rules. Your application must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. (PST) April 6, 2011.

Official Rules of the competition:

* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program related to video games, including programs related to video game art, design, animation, production, programming, or visual effects;
* Have a 3.00 or higher grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale;
* Continue to be enrolled during the entire 2011-12 academic year, not graduating before the end of the 2012 spring term;
* Be a legal resident of one of the fifty United States (including the District of Columbia) for the duration of the competition and
* Be eighteen (18) years or older at the time of application

Rewards:

One winner will be selected to receive:

* A $10,000 scholarship award to be applied toward tuition, room and board and other education-related expenses at the school at which the winner is enrolled; and
* An internship of up to ten (10) weeks at SOE’s headquarters in San Diego, California or at one of SOE’s studio locations (located in Austin, Seattle, or Denver). Location of internship to be decided by SOE.

DCUO Virtual Chat with Devs

Finding the Waynetech Watches DCUO Collection

Many people continue to make new topics on the forums asking if the Stainless Steel Waynetech Watch item even exists in the game as it’s apparently rare collectible. This is a small guide on how to find it.

Your first step is to go to Crime Alley – East End – Gotham City. I believe that Stainless Steel Waynetech Watch item is currently the only collectible that is not shown as the gold questionmark, but the ROSE. It’s not bugged, it’s a rose with the golden twinkles.

Ace Chemical- DCUO Hard Mode Alerts

This Hard Mode Alerts is quite different than the others because it is Dynamic. ACE is never the same twice. You first go through some halls until you reach a main large room with Chemo in it. In this room you get Ambushes, 5 of them. You must first defeat the ambushes before the doors open to let you move on.

CAUTION Watch out for the Ace Patrol mobs, they have a Flamethrower that will do Massive Damage to you if they are allowed to get it off.

The Chemo room is split into 3 paths after the Ambush. It is random which door opens but there is Left, Center, and Right and each with 2 different Bosses.

February 2011 patch notes

The long awaited February content update/patch is just around the corner and RadarX posted on the official forums the full patch notes. They are two pages long, but are well worth the read because this patch not only brings new features and raids, it also fixes old and annoying bugs. Bellow you can find the full patch notes or you can read them here on the official forums.

New Features:

  • New Batcave Raid – 8 players will have the opportunity to infiltrate and retake Batman’s Inner Sanctum, which has been overrun by OMAC and the Dark Knight’s own corrupted technology. Fight along side Batman against Brother Eye!
  • New Appearance Items – Earn a Harlequin Clown suit or a Cherub disguise through a variety of holiday activities.
  • Goddess of Love Alert – Join up with three others to decide the epic battle between Devotion and Scorn once and for all.
  • New Races – Can you catch Catwoman as she leaps across buildings in Gotham City?
  • New Collections – All new collection sets will allow players to continue finding these hidden items.
  • New Themed Missions – Enjoy various missions that will challenge the player in combat, jumping, and much more.
  • A New Bane Duo – Another Duo has been added for your enjoyment! Pair up with another player and take on Bane for a chance at great loot.
  • New PvP Ring Event – Available on both PvP and PvE servers, Heroes and villains race to either save or steal valuable bags of diamonds from armored vans.
  • An Auction House – Players may now buy and sell tradeable items on a Broker in The Watchtower and Hall of Doom.
  • New Armor – Make your way to the Gotham Museum and help Catwoman to receive pieces of brand new Mayan armor!

Area 51 – DCUO Hard Mode Alerts

The general playthrough of this Hard Mode Alerts is very similar to the Normal Alert playthrough. The 4 Stages of this are exactly the same.

Stage 1

You start off in a small Base. You need to destroy a certain number of Mobs and Activate a certain number of EMPs and then the boss spawns.

Boss 1 – Brainiac Servator Beta
This fight is straight forward. You fight the boss, and as time goes on he will put himself in a protective shield. When he does this, he spawns 2 groups of mobs at either side of the catwalk, drop those and then the boss is vulnerable again and you can kill him and move on.
