DCUO Guides: Seismic Earth DPS guide

After experimenting with various loadouts, I’ve worked out what I believe are the tools for the best Daze based loadout. Rather than give all the tricks of the trade away, I’ll point out the Power Interactions and tools needed to tear it up as DPS. I’m a firm believer in learning by doing, so this thread will do more than enough in terms of pointing you in the right direction. If I have not mentioned a power in the Seismic tree, consider it useless to dps.

THIS IS NOT A THREAD FOR LEVELING, THIS IS DESIGNED AROUND THE PURPOSE OF ENDGAME DPS IN RAIDS AND HIGH LEVEL ALERTS.

First point of business, stack precision. Lots of it. I wouldn’t go as far as to give up might altogether, but putting prec/health in your blue slots and prec/power in your yellow slots for mods is the best start. If you want might based stuff, Crush is your best bet.

Daze and Crush effects last for 13 seconds, unlike electrifying effects it is not harvested and can have multiple power interactive powers used at a time, as long as Daze or Crush is active.

New DCUO Legendary Membership Benefits

Starting April 3rd, 2012, all DCUO players with a Legendary Membership, either PC or PS3, will see exciting new benefits:

  • Every month players with Legendary Membership will receive 500 Station Cash (PC) or 500 Loyalty Points (PS3)
  • Rare drop – Promethium Lockboxes with unique, new, and powerful gear that you can’t find anywhere else.
  • 150 Replay Badges that allow anyone to reset their instance loot lockouts

DC Universe Online’s Legendary Membership is about to get even more rewarding! Starting April 3rd, 2012, all players with a Legendary Membership, either PC or PS3, will see exciting new benefits. Don’t worry! All your current benefits will remain as they are now, including your complete access to all Downloadable Content (DLC) Packs, but in addition, you’ll receive…

…AMAZING MONTHLY GRANTS!

All players with a recurring Legendary Membership will receive 500 Station Cash (PC) or 500 Loyalty Points (PS3) every month. That’s right! Take yourself on a shopping spree once a month, on us! You might not be Bruce Wayne, but you’ll sure feel like it once you start spending all this cash.

So, let’s talk about what Loyalty Points are. For PS3 players, we’re not able to grant you dollars in your PSN wallets for Marketplace purchases, so we’ve created an entirely new system and currency to reward you in-game. When the program begins, you’ll find Skeets’ Legendary Emporium in the police stations and safe houses. These Loyalty Vendors will stock much of what’s available on the regular Marketplace, including Respec Tokens and many of our other best-selling items. Each month, you’ll receive Loyalty Points, and you can spend them at the Loyalty Vendors just as you would in the Marketplace. 500 Loyalty Points are equivalent to $5.00 USD. We will continue to expand what is available for purchase with Loyalty Points, so stay tuned!

Remember, even if you decide later to drop back to Premium Access, you’ll still have all the goodies you’ve purchased as a loyal Legendary Member.

…INCREDIBLE PROMETHIUM LOCKBOXES!

As part of upgrading the Legendary Membership, we’ve created an entirely new system that all players can utilize in-game to earn rewards. Promethium Lockboxes have a rare chance of dropping from any enemies you defeat anywhere in the world (once you’re level 10). Inside, you’ll find unique, new, and powerful gear that you can’t find anywhere else.

All players can find Promethium Lockboxes, but players with Free or Premium Access will have to purchase a Promethium Key from the Marketplace to open them. With a Legendary Membership, you’ve got it made. You can unlock any and all Promethium Lockboxes you find, immediately, for free!

…ASTOUNDING REPLAY BADGES!

To put the finishing touch on the new Legendary Membership, we’ve also created new items for the Marketplace called Replay Badges. Replay Badges allow anyone to reset their instance loot lockouts. Let’s say you’ve just finished a raid and you want to run it again, right away, right now, AND you want to continue to earn its rewards. With Replay Badges, now you can do just that!

Replay Badges are available to all players in the Marketplace, but with your Legendary Membership, you get 150 (a $5 USD value!) every month, to use and enjoy as you see fit.

DC Universe Online is Free to Play. Your Way. And if you like the way monthly Replay Badges, unlimited unlocks of Promethium Lockboxes, and monthly stipends of cash or points sound, we think your way may be and feel a bit more Legendary, starting April 3rd.

DCUO Guides: T4 Prime Battleground Raid

The raid is one big continuous fight featuring 3 Avatars (Meta / Magic / Tech) and an end confrontation with Brainiac. The Prime Avatars switch between them, with one of them active at any one time. There is one spawner behind each avatar that continuously spawns adds of that affiliation(meta/magic/tech). When killed, these adds drop an element that can be used to lower the spawner shield. After 3 elements were gathered, the spawner can be destroyed and no more adds will spawn.

When all 3 spawners are down, the avatars will be surrounded by healer bots that heal everything (even the avatars that are inactive).

After all 3 avatars are killed, Brainiac spawns in the middle for the end-fight.

The fight has 3 phases:
A. Focusing on the adds and getting two spawners down (Meta and Tech).
B. Defeating the prime avatars.
C. Defeating Brainiac.

A Sneek Peak at DCUO The Battle For Earth

DCUO team offered an exclusive sneak peek to the next upcoming content update The Battle For Earth. The Update continues the epic story in the mythical island of Themyscira and adds new epic 8-person raid, weapons, armor.

The mythical island of Themyscira itself is an idyllic place. Filled with the deep mysteries of myth and legendary creatures, and cared for with the Amazons’ ever-abiding love, Themyscira glows with beauty and goodness. Like the Amazons and Wonder Woman herself, however, the island is strong at its heart and ready for war.

Now with Themyscira crippled by Brainiac’s siege, defending the island is left to you. Wonder Woman, Circe, and their allies will be along to provide support, but it will be up to you to best utilize their abilities. Whether you’re clearing a path through the battle so the Cyclops can assist you in breaking down the main gate, powering Living Statues to ground Brainiac’s airborne assault, or forming a strategic front so defending Amazon archers can fire, in Themyscira, tactics and strategy may make the difference. The environment and a host of allies can be used to great advantage – or not – and it is entirely up to you. Be warned, though, you will need every advantage you can find if you’re going to battle your way through Brainiac’s near endless array of twisted, chimeric forces.

And if you survive, of course, the Avatar of Magic is waiting.
Earn new weapons, new armor, and more in this epic 8-person raid, coming March 13th and 14th in The Battle For Earth!

DCUO Guides: Exobits & You

Since the advent of the exobits, many have been wondering what the smeg is going on with them, why are they & what can be done with them. I have thankfully experienced enough (by trial & error & some very well-timed questions to those more knowledgeable than I) that I can now provide something of a Primer for those who have been asking me to help. Unfortunately, the in-game chat window scrolls far too fast for me to follow (especially when the Shouts outnumber the Group posts) sometimes, and I can only type so fast without losing my mind in typos. So, with your indulgence, i have decided to post this “primer” of sorts, to help with those out there who have questions & I cannot answer fast enough due to lag, the floor of people in the chat, and my own dwindling patience.

To those whom have better knowledge than I post here, feel free to annotate & clarify, but be kind & respectful please. This *is* a work in progress. Of course I am speaking from the Tech faction side, so those of Magic & Meta please do post your perspective.

EXOBITS; these are broken/damaged pieces of exobytes that did not activate when Future Luthor detonated them in the earth’s atmosphere some time ago (see the intro video). Some landed on the Moon (the Hive moon Base instance), other were spread far & wide across the world. They are represented by a little glowing rainbow-star with a high-toned hum. NOT to be confused with the briefing, Investigation or Collection icons’ sound, which is a slightly different sound. (here is a close up shot of an unclaimed exobit.)

The Third DLC Pack “The Battle for Earth” introduces new Earth Powers Set and numerous new multi-player and open-world adventures. This pack will be accessible for free for the game’s Legendary members and available for purchase for Free and Premium players.

Official Announcement

Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) today announced that the third downloadable content (DLC) pack for DC Universe Online (DCUO), The Battle for Earth, will soon be available for download on the PC and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Featuring the new Earth Powers power set and a wealth of new adventures to take on with friends, the new DLC pack throws players in to the ultimate battle with Brainiacand introduces a shocking new threat to the Universe.

“With The Battle for Earth one war will come to a head, while another begins as we introduce a new chapter to the larger DCUO story,” said Jens Andersen, DC Universe Online Creative Director, Sony Online Entertainment. “The Battle for Earth also has so much new action to jump in to including a massive Raid where you fight Brainiac’s final Avatar – the Avatar of Magic, new Duos, a new Alert and lots of new fighting to do in South Gotham.”

The Battle for Earth offers players a new storyline with more action, epic battles, a ninth power set, and opens up a new chapter featuring a pair of the most legendary DC Universe figures ever – from the future. DC Universe Online players can look forward to new open world content, Duos, an Alert, and two Raids:

  • Themyscira – Experience a new Raid on Wonder Woman’s home island that pits players against Chimeric Brainiacs and, ultimately, the deadly Avatar of Magic. Players will fight alongside mythical creatures such as Cyclops, Hydra and Colossus, while simultaneously protecting key units of Amazons and Beastimorphs.
  • South Gotham Brainiac Invasion – Supercharged action continues as players battle Brainiac’s invasion force in the streets of South Gotham, the Courthouse Alert and new Duos. Working to stop Brainiac’s Union – formed by the people trapped inside the bottled buildings – who are constructing Proto-Avatars to assault Gotham, players will be challenged to rise up and defend Earth against Brainiac’s final assault.
  • The Prime BattlegroundThe Battle for Earth storyline leads players in to an epic battle in which they must fight all three of Brainiac’s newly completed Prime Avatars, and then Brainiac himself. Heroes will fight for the safety of the Earth and its inhabitants, while Villains will want to defeat Brainiac and expand the influence of evil across the planet.
  • Earth Powers – Rumble on to the scene and shake things up with DCUO’s ninth power set. Earth Powers can be used for both Tanking and Damage and features an exciting new Tanking mechanic that defers damage to a player’s constructs and automatons. Geokinesis abilities give players the ability to shape Earthen constructs to crush enemies and reinforce allies while Seismic abilities allow players to call mighty, Earth-shaking forces to rattle and daze opponents.

DC Universe Online’s The Battle for Earth DLC pack will be accessible for free for the game’s Legendary members and available for purchase for Free and Premium players from the PlayStation®Network, through the in-game Marketplace, and on the PC from the DCUniverseOnline.com website.
