DCUO Update 16 and Summer Event are live

Game Update 16 includes new summer event Tides of War, new Moon Legends Map, new Items in the Vault and Bludhaven Alert Update.

Summer Event! Tides of War!
Tides of War includes a 4-person alert, open world missions in the waters between Metropolis and Little Bohemia, new styles, pets, trinkets, new Feats and Collections. Tides of War is available “for a limited time” , so don’t miss it!

During the summer, the seas become restless and churn with dangerous storms. Ocean Master, Aquaman’s conniving half brother, has rallied a force of mutineer Atlanteans in an attempt to usurp the throne of Atlantis! Their civil war has breached the waters of Metropolis, a crucial piece in the plot to rule the sea.

NEW Moon Legends Map!
Exclusive for “The Last Laugh” and Legendary members, the Moon Legends PvP map is now available! You’ve won victory on Earth, but can you survive the moon?

NEW Items in the Vault!
Some old styles are removed from the vault to make room for the new, but don’t panic! All styles removed from the vault are already available elsewhere.

Three new military style gear set appearances (Logistics Officer, Sharpshooter, Aeronaut) now have a chance to drop in the vault! Collect them all!

Bludhaven Alert Update!
The toxicity of Bludhaven has decreased slightly over time, resulting in enemies that are less threatening in some areas. Bludhaven has been rebalanced!

DCUO Database iPhone App

dcuo_iphone_app

DCUO Central iPhone App has appeared and I want to make sure everyone is aware about it! Created by Mike Mayo, this portable database for the items, instances, and bosses will help you to find out what boss drops which epic piece, or while preparing for a raid you can see what drops you can expect.
I’m really glad that such a great application is finally available for iPhone.

Prime Battleground Tips

The biggest tip is that EVERYONE needs to learn the fight mechanics of all bosses. Everyone is responsible for their own survivability. Learn what will one-shot you and proactively communicate about how to avoid that. If you don’t have a mic, you better at least be listening.

Adds

A Tank should be continuously pulling adds to him and the boss. There’s little you can do to the boss.

Priority
Healing Drones
Astral Adds (Roc, Guardian, Lion)
Astral Roc (Magic Add)
Astral Guardian (Magic Add)
Tech Adds (Wing Armor, Security Sentry, etc)
Meta Adds (Sunstone Sentry, etc)

DCUO Guides: Earth Tanking Discussion

This is a compilation of tests and information from the earth tanking community, special thanks to all of you. I have added as well some personal recommendations. This is still a work in progress, there still much to be added and some corrections will be made along the way. Suggestions, additions, comments and critics are welcomed.

Why Earth Tanking?

First of all because is a lot of fun. This power set gives a good mix of everything. Introduces new forms of tanking via pets and aftershocks, has good mitigation on par with other tank powers. Has some nice pulls, crowd control and utility powers.

DCUO Guides: A detailed Earth DPS guide

Howdy, so enough time has passed since the release of Earth for me to test out various builds and now that I’ve finally found one that I’ve settled with… I say it’s time to put it in stone! CRUSHING your Enemies! A detailed Earth DPS guide by NP Seras & Friends!

Must haves:

Typical dps build, maxing out Might > Crit > Crit Damage.
Optimal:
Iconic Powers : Tactical Genious, Weapon’s Expert and Super Strength.
Recommended : Weapon’s Expert, Tactical Genious.

So before you settle in on a loadout, I previously suggested you fresh Earth toons go practice, also mentioned in some other posts about “Crushing” and “Dazing” loadouts. Earth powers may not look like much but a lot of time went into the design of these powers.

A “Crushing” loadout typically focuses on low cooldown, medium damage powers that can be used rapidly in succession of each other.
A “Dazing” loadout usually has some higher damaging powers with longer cooldowns which, when staggered, can also deal formidable damage to your enemies.

Things to note : Powers with “Crushing” interactions add an extra DoT to your target. With 1640 might, the three powers whose DoTs I have encountered are

Debris Field : An additional 15-20 damage is dealt along with the initial tick, lasts until Debris Field is finished.
Shards : Additional 25-45 damage is dealth after the initial triple hit connects, ticks 4 times.
Striking Stones: Additional 25-45 damage is dealth after the initial hit, ticks 4 times.

DCUO Guides: DPS for Dummies

I am not sure why I am making this guide because DPS or the damager role is the easiest role in the game. All characters in DCUO are capable of the damager role. Seeing as everyone can play this role everyone will play it differently. The following is what works for me. So do get mad at someone that is playing differently then you.

The damage has only one responsibility in the group, and that is to kill everything. And to kill them as quickly efficiently and as brutally as superhumanly possible. When in boss fight where the boss calls in adds you will need to split you fire between the boss and his ads.
