DCUO List of Keyboard & Chat Commands

Yesterday I came across this great thread on the official DCUO forums, created by Kithkarnon. I’m sure you’ll find it useful as much as I did.

Chat Commands

* By typing a slash [ / ] before certain typed commands in the chat window, you will be able to specify how, or to whom, you chat. The following are useful chat commands:

/tell [name] or /t [name] – Send a private message to another person (use quotes around names with a space.)

/shout – Shout a message to everyone in the same region
/invite [name] – Invite another person to join a group with you (no quotes needed)
/leave – Leave your current group
/kick [name] – Kick the specified person from your group (no quotes needed. You must be the group leader)
/promote [name] – Promote the specified person to be the group leader (no quotes needed. You must be the group leader)
/friend [name] – Add a player to your friends list
/league or /l – Say something to members of your league
/versus – Talk to the opposing forces (needs to be enabled in the social menu first)
/bug – Submit a bug report (have not tested myself)
/pvp – Flag yourself for PvP on a PvE server (not tested myself)
/ – Opens last menu you were at
/”emote” – You can use any emote via the keyboard (ie: /dance)
/logout – Logs you out
NumLock – auto run
Tab – Cycles thru menu options
Enter – Changes focus to the chat window (same as select)

DCUO Official Screenshots – New Siliconic Powers!!

DC Universe Online released several new official screenshots. The main reason for posting them here was hilarious comment by Brandon Huff on one of the screenshots. Feel free to guess which screenshot I’m referring to 🙂

Some use fire, some use ice, some use psionic, but Power Girl… She rolls with the Siliconic powers!!!!

During yesterday’s downtime there was a small patch deployed that fixes the following issues:

All DCUO servers down – cause unknown (January 16. 2011.) *updated

As of 6:00 PM EST all US (and I think EU as well) DC Universe Servers went down. This caused the official forums to crash as well. Now, the launcher application is dead as well (failed to initialize). This is probably caused by thousands of players that want to find out what caused this failure. As far as we know this is not a scheduled maintenance, since that happened some 14 hours ago. For now all we can do is sit and wait for the servers to come back up and we’ll update this post as soon s we find out more information.

As much as this is frustrating there is a good side to all this. I figure that if all servers went down it means the number of players is so great that it brought the servers down and this means that the game is more successful than anticipated (which we welcome). On the other hand, Circe might have been bored and killed the server hamsters…

6:55PM EST Update
On the official forums (if you are lucky enough to access them) there is the following official announcement:

Attention Heroes and Villains!

We apologize for the unexpected server downtimes today. We’re working on expanding the capacity right away and there may be brief interruptions because of these efforts.

Brasse

11:00PM Update
The outage is over and here’s the official statement to confirm it:

Thank you for hanging in there with us during this unexpected outage… we are all players too, and anxious to get back in there!

We have been advised that the PC servers should now be back online. Of course, thousands of folks trying to log in at once may see some delays, but we should all be blasting and smacking each other around in Gotham and Metropolis soon!

Queue and First Day Review

For some reason DC Universe Online is not getting the amount of attention some classic MMO games get. Whether that is caused by the console feel the game has (which makes it foreign to the PC crowds that are MMORPG fans) or the fact that it is an action MMO that asks for much more involvement than your average WoW clone or SOE just didn’t do their marketing right; Whatever the case is the game is not all over the news sites and other than a few rehashed press releases and a very small number of fansite generated content I feel that everyone is waiting for the first game impressions from the players themselves rather than doing the usual game launch hype stuff.

DCUO error: Cannot start due to d3dx10_41.dll missing

If you get the error pop up “The program can’t start because d3dx10_41.dll is missing from your computer” every time you try to launch the game, you should go to Microsoft web-site and download the full DirectX redist (about 100 meg) and run it. That should fix the error. This is the official response on the matter by one of the DCUO developers:

If the webinstaller version of DirectX isnt updating you correctly, try running the full redist from Microsoft. It will copy over all the directX files you need for XP, Vista, and W7. You can download it at www.microsoft.com/downloads/…91-50ceb6d8fa8d

DC Universe Online Lives

It is January 11. 2011. and DC Universe Online, Action MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment, is seeing first customers create their characters on the Live servers. After months of Beta testing and years of development you will be able to take a role of a superhero or supervillain , guided by iconic characters from the DC Comics universe, such as Superman, Batman, Joker, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman and Circe. All the new players should check out this awesome official game guide that will give you the basics on game features and mechanics.

The launch of the game also marks the launch of our DCUO dedicated fansite. We’ll try and provide you with guides and walkthroughs and some fresh news like you are used to seeing on our other MMORPG dedicated websites (LOTRO, Aion, SWTOR and WoW fansites). For this start we give you a few guides and walkthroughs with screenshots from the game showing where to find all the pieces for you Collections, Briefings and Investigations (these are special achievements in the game that you complete by finding all pieces that are scattered around the map – they reward experience and achievement points).

I am gonna go log back in and continue hunting for these Collections to post on the site and you can check out the ones we already added by clicking the links bellow:
